• Regular -ar verbs: conjugating and defining
• Expressions of frequency: define, correct placement in sentences
• Expressing obligation: hay que +infinitive, tener que +infinitive
• Sentence completion: vocab and -ar verbs

The 8th graders demonstrated their bargaining skills this week in skits that they wrote. They incorporated the 5 fundamental rules of bargaining in the skits:

1. Only speak Spanish

2. Act like a poor student with little money, not a rich tourist

3. Listen to the first price, then respond, "¡Es demasiado!" (That's too much!)

4. Go to other stores to compare prices

5. Smile! It's free and you might get a better price

Estudiantes del 8: Your book reports are due on January 16. Remember-we already had our work day in class. You will also have a prueba this miércoles on vocabulary and stem-changing verbs (just the definitions of the infinitives-not conjugating).

Estudiantes del 7: You will have a prueba de vocabulario this miércoles. Most of the quiz will be multiple choice or matching so focus on being able to identify the words instead of being able to spell them correctly.

Cuetlaxochitl

Poinsettias decorate many homes during this time of year. This pretty plant has been around since the time of the Aztecs. The Aztecs used this plant to cure fevers and called it "cuetlaxochitl". In 1825, Dr. Joel Poinsett became the first U.S. Ambassador to Mexico. While in the region of Taxco, he found this beautiful plant and sent it to some of his colleagues. In 1836 it became known as the poinsettia. ¡Qué interestante!
